FTA fines are visible in your EmaraTax account under the taxable person's dashboard, where outstanding administrative penalties appear alongside any tax payable. Log in at eservices.tax.gov.ae, open the taxable person profile, and review the payments or liabilities section — each penalty shows its amount, the violation it relates to, and the tax period concerned.

Four steps to check your penalties

  • Log in to EmaraTax at eservices.tax.gov.ae using UAE PASS or your registered email.
  • Select the taxable person — if you manage several entities, penalties are per entity.
  • Open the liabilities or payments view — outstanding penalties are listed with the amount and the violation reference.
  • Read what each penalty is for — the description identifies whether it relates to late registration, late filing, late payment, or records.

Penalties can appear against corporate tax and VAT separately, since these are separate registrations under the same account account setup.

What each corporate tax penalty means

  • AED 10,000 — failure to register for corporate tax within the FTA's deadline
  • AED 500 per month — late filing, for the first 12 months, rising to AED 1,000 per month thereafter
  • 14% per annum — late payment of corporate tax, applied monthly on the unsettled amount
  • AED 10,000 / AED 20,000 — failure to keep required records, doubling on a repeat violation within 24 months
  • AED 5,000 — failure to submit records in Arabic when the FTA requests them

Your four options once you can see the fine

  • Pay it. Via GIBAN bank transfer using the reference in your EmaraTax account.
  • Apply for installments. Available for unsettled penalties meeting the conditions of Cabinet Decision No. 105 of 2021 installment and waiver rules.
  • Apply for a waiver. Also under Cabinet Decision No. 105 of 2021, in defined circumstances.
  • Dispute it. A reconsideration request within 40 business days of notification reconsideration request process.

The route depends on whether you believe the penalty is wrong (dispute) or correct but unaffordable or excusable (installment or waiver). Choosing the wrong one wastes the deadline for the other.

If the penalty is for late registration

There is a specific automatic route: filing your first corporate tax return within 7 months of the end of your first tax period cancels the AED 10,000 late registration penalty, and refunds it to your tax account if already paid late registration penalty waiver. Check whether your window is still open before treating the penalty as final.
