How UAE Corporate Tax Deadlines Work
Every UAE taxable person must file a corporate tax return and settle any tax due within nine months of the end of the financial year, under Article 53 of Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022. The rule applies uniformly to companies, free zone entities, branches of foreign companies, and natural persons in scope of corporate tax. The nine-month window runs from the last day of your financial year to the same calendar day in the ninth month that follows.
For the largest cohort of UAE businesses — those on a January to December financial year — the first full tax period was 1 January to 31 December 2024, with a filing deadline of 30 September 2025. The 2025 tax period, ending 31 December 2025, has a filing deadline of 30 September 2026. A financial year ending 31 March 2026 has a deadline of 31 December 2026. A 30 June year-end has a deadline of 31 March 2027.
Missing the deadline triggers automatic penalties. The FTA applies AED 500 per month of delay for the first twelve months, then AED 1,000 per month thereafter, calculated from the day after the deadline. Any tax that goes unpaid on the same date attracts interest at 14% per annum, applied monthly. Both meters keep running until the return is filed and the tax is settled. There is no formal grace period.
The checker on this page gives you the exact date and a live countdown so you can plan accordingly. Under 30 days is a red state — book review time immediately. 30 to 90 days is amber, which is when a good filer starts preparation. Over 90 days is green, but starting early is still cheaper: the September rush drives up preparation and audit fees across the market.
